Welcome to the Tulchin website.

This webpage is dedicated to the family name Tulchin and our heritage. People named Tulchin and its variants (there are many, including Tulchen, Tolchen, Tulchinski, Tulchinsky, etc.) are from a town called – you guessed it – Tulchin in the southern part of Ukraine along the Selnitsa River. For a map and more on the history of Tulchin, click here.

Like many other people named Tulchin in America, we came through Ellis Island. It has a fabulous website where you can learn a great deal about your family's history, too. From 1892 to 1954, over twelve million immigrants entered the United States through the portal of Ellis Island. Today, the descendants of those immigrants account for almost half of the American people.

Our branch of Tulchins just celebrated our 100th anniversary of coming to America. Getting here was not easy. Our path was long and lucky, thanks to determination of some family members, support from others and happenstance of time.

Direct relations to us include:

  • The Tulchins, owners of Tulnoy Lumber in NY
  • Dr. J. S. Tulchin, Latin American Historian and author
  • Andrew "Drew" Tulchin, consultant for start-ups, raising capital and international finance
  • Matthew "Matt" Tulchin, Lawyer
